The New London Barn Playhouse celebrates a rich tradition of young artists sharing their talents within our humble barn. This list is just a small representation of thousands of our successful alumni. To every Barnie, near and far, we are grateful.

For decades we’ve been entertained by many talented, young artists. We are so fortunate to see the early careers of these remarkable actors and look forward to seeing so many more “Barnies” on our stage in the future.

Sandy Dennis (’56) won two Tony Awards on Broadway and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress opposite Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf.

Stephen Schwartz (‘57) Broadway: Godspell, Pippin, Children of Eden, Wicked. Film: The Prince Egypt, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enchanted. Three Grammy Awards, Three Academy Awards and One Tony Award 

Phillip Rosenthal (’74), Emmy Award winner, was the creator of and Chief Writer for Everybody Loves Raymond.

Laura Linney (’77-’78) is an American actress and singer. Winner of two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards; nominated for three Academy Awards and four Tony Awards. Appeared on Broadway and in You Can Count on Me, The Truman Show, Love Actually, Mystic River, and Ozark.

Casey Nicholaw (’81), Tony Award winner, choreographer and director of The Drowsy Chaperone, Spamalot, Something Rotten, and The Book of Mormon.

Judy Kuhn (’82), a three time Tony Award nominee, provided the singing voice for the title role in Disney’s Pocahontas and was the original Cosette in Les Miserables on Broadway.

Taye Diggs (’92) starred on stage in Rent and in major roles in the movies Chicago and How Stella Got Her Groove Back.

Ciara Renée (’10) starred as Elsa in Frozen on Broadway in 2020.

Allison Bailey (’13) and Talia Suskauer (’15) starring as the lead roles in the national touring production of Wicked.
