School Year Productions

PERFORMERS AND TECH/DESIGN STUDENTS WANTED

For every school year production, students are welcome to register as performers, tech/design students, or both. Some of the productions will have full designs, while others will be more simple. Tech/design students may share their area of interest, but they will be asked to work on multiple aspects of the show.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, all while guarding an egg abandoned by Mayzie La Bird. Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in Horton, and the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant!

K–5TH GRADE PRODUCTION

Tuesdays & Fridays

Jan. 14–Feb. 21

The magic treehouse transports Jack and Annie back to the time of the dinosaurs! Based on the iconic book series, this short musical tells the story of their harrowing adventures and new friendships along their way back home. Every student who registers will get a part.
Tuition: $150


MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTION

February Break Musical

Auditions: Sunday, February 2
Rehearsals: 1:00–5:00pm on Sundays February 9, 16, & 23;
February 24–March 1
PERFORMANCE: Saturday, March 1 @ 5:00pm

A full-length adaptation SIX, the British musical comedy about the six wives of Henry VIII in the style of a pop concert. This version has been modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences. Auditions will be held on February 2, and Sunday rehearsals (February 9, 16, & 23) will be held before break week to make sure students feel confident with the music.

K–5TH GRADE PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

February Break

Rehearsals: Feb. 21–Mar. 1, 9:00am–Noon
Showcase: Saturday, March 1 @ Noon

Explore the ins and outs of these wildly emotional characters! This performance workshop will pull scenes from the Inside Out movies, as well as relevant songs, for students to rehearse and perform in a final showcase. Every student who registers will get a part.
Tuition: $150


5TH GRADE SHAKESPEARE SHOW

Mondays & Fridays
3:30–5:30pm
Mar. 3–Apr. 18

The Barn Playhouse continues New London’s 5th Grade Shakespeare tradition! This year, we present a farce about two sets of twins who get wrapped up in a lot of confusion due to mistaken identities. Despite hysteria and hilarious mistakes, the show ends with clarity and reunited families. Tuition: $150


K–5TH GRADE PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

April Break

Rehearsals: Apr. 28–May 3, 9:00am–Noon
Showcase: Saturday, May 3 @ Noon

“Kids these days. They just don’t get scared like they used to.” Spend your break week performing scenes, games, and improv exercises inspired by Monsters Inc and Monsters University! Every student who registers will get a part in the final performance.
Tuition: $150


MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTION

April Break Play

Rehearsals: April 27–May 3, 1:00–5:00pm
Performance: Saturday, May 3 @ 5:00pm

The story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge.
Tuition: $150

We at the Barn believe an education in the performing arts should be available and accessible to everyone. We know many people are currently dealing with loss of income and financial instability in light of COVID-19 and the subsequent economic disruptions. So it is with great pride that we offer Tuition Assistance at any level needed.​
