Education at the Barn

The Barn’s mission to create vibrant theater with young artists in collaboration with professionals also extends to the young people in our community. We firmly believe that an education in the performing arts is incredibly important to young people’s creative and social development. Further, the ability to connect with our community is a cornerstone of the Barn’s long history. For these reasons, we are very happy to offer immersive educational programming to connect with all of you.

Education comes in many forms: in classes, in productions, in going to the theater, in meeting professionals in the field, and many others. This year, we are very excited to be offering several classes and camps, as well as our well-established Junior Intern Company, and some other still-in-progress opportunities as ways for young aspiring actors, singers, dancers, writers, and theater artists to get involved in their art, and in our theater. Below are some of are current and upcoming offerings.

Junior Intern Program

The Junior Intern Company is comprised of 25 young performers aged 12-18 who, over the course of nine weeks, rehearse, build and perform plays and musicals for young audiences. The 2016 season has been announced!

Check out our Junior Intern Program page for more information.

Summer Camps

Each summer, we offer five weeks of camps, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM or 1:30 PM-4:30 PM. Each week will have opportunities for children ranging from age 6 to 16, and will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Camps are taught by a combination of Barn staff, members of the Acting Company, and professional guest artists! Registration is now OPEN for our Summer 2016 offerings!

Check out our Summer Camps page for more information.

Musical Theater Intensive

We are very excited to be offering our first-ever Musical Theater Intensive this spring! Join favorite Barn actors as they lead master classes in Acting, Singing, and Dancing over the course of a weekend, with every student getting individual opportunities and feedback. The Intensive will be held April 2 and 3 with sessions for students age 8-12 and 13-18.

Check on the Musical Theater Intensive page for more information!

Note: All of our programs are day-camps; these are for campers with local housing, as no on-site housing is available
