Education Programming

Education at the Barn

The Barn’s mission to create vibrant theater with young artists in collaboration with professionals also extends to the young people in our community. We firmly believe that an education in the performing arts is incredibly important to young people’s creative and social development. Further, the ability to connect with our community is a cornerstone of the Barn’s long history. For these reasons, we are very happy to offer immersive educational programming.

Education comes in many forms: classes, productions, going to the theater, meeting professionals in the field, and many others. This year, we are very excited to be offering our spring intensive, a summer full of camps, as well as our well-established Junior Intern Company, as ways for young aspiring actors, singers, dancers, writers, and theater artists to get involved in their art, and in our theater. Below are some of are current and upcoming offerings.

Junior Intern Program

The Junior Intern Company is comprised of 30 young performers aged 12-18 who, over the course of nine weeks, rehearse, build and perform plays and musicals for young audiences. Check back in January for information on the 2018 Season!

Check out our Junior Intern Program page for more information.

Summer Camps

Each summer, we offer five weeks of camps, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM or 1:00 PM-4:00 PM. Each week will have opportunities for children ranging from age 6 to 11, and will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Camps are taught by a combination of Barn staff, members of the Acting Company, and professional guest artists! Check back in January for an announcement of our Summer 2018 lineup!

Check out our Summer Camps page for more information.

Musical Theater Intensive

Our Spring Musical Theater Intensive returned on March 25th and 26th! This year, students who participated got to learn songs, dances, and scenes from our upcoming mainstage season of musicals: Godspell, The Secret Garden, West Side Story, and All Shook Up. Favorite Barn actors and directors lead master classes with every student getting individual opportunities and feedback. Thanks to everyone who attended and made it such a great success! Check in January for more information on next year’s programming!

Check on the Musical Theater Intensive page for more information!

Note: All of our programs are day-camps; these are for campers with local housing, as no on-site housing is available
