This winter, we are very excited to be expanding our Educational programming with acting classes! Josh Feder, Director/Choreographer of the Junior Intern Company and now the Education Director of the Barn will be teaching courses aimed at helping young actors to strengthen their skill sets and find their voices. Both courses will culminate in a final presentation of scenes and songs.
Classes will be held at the New London Outing Club Indoor Center (at the former middle school, and location of our summer camps) for six weeks.
Fridays: January 11, 18, & 25, and February 1, 8, & 15
OR Wednesdays: January 9, 16, 23, 30, and February 6 & 13

ACTING 101
Ages 8-12
3:30-5:00pm Fridays OR 3:30-5:00pm Wednesdays
In this introductory acting course, students will learn basic acting techniques and then learn to apply that to both scenes and songs. Students will start by learning how to create a rich and dynamic character and then have those characters work towards their goals within their situations. Using the same techniques as professional actor/singers, students will get a chance to try their hand at scenes and songs from classic plays and musicals.
ADVANCED ACTING
Ages 13-18
5:00-6:30pm (Fridays only)
This course will teach actor/singers to develop techniques to play both scenes and songs believably, honestly, and dynamically. Working with the text, lyrics, and musical phrases, students will analyze the material and create strong three dimensional characters. Basic acting techniques will be strengthened with specificity and connection and applied to the scenes/songs through objectives and actions. Students will work in pairs to prepare, rehearse, and present scenes and songs from classic plays and musicals.
Class sizes will be limited, so please register early to ensure a spot in the class!
