COME PLAY WITH US THIS SUMMER!!

SUMMER CAMPS FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS

This summer we are excited to be offering six weeks of camps, from July 6th through August 14th. Each week will have opportunities for children ranging from age 6 to 16; each class will culminate in a performance on the Barn stage. Camps are taught by Barn staff, members of the Acting Company, and professional guest artists. We look forward to having your family join us this summer!

Camps are held Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM or 1:30 PM-4:30 PM. Tuition is $170 per camper, per session.

SUMMER 2015 CAMPS

WEEK ONE: July 6-10

PLAY TIME
6-9 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
This camp introduces young actors to the wonderful world of theater. Acting exercises and creative activities will build confidence, friendship, and teamwork as each child develops his or her talents.

BROADWAY DANCE II
10-12 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Campers will be dancing up a storm in this class that teaches dance technique through exciting and fun choreography! Students will learn routines set to favorite Broadway numbers, and develop their skills as musical theater performers.

STAGE CRAFT
10-16 year olds
1:30-4:30 PM
New for 2015! This camp will give an introduction to the exciting world of design and art that goes into live theater. Campers will learn to use masks, costumes, and puppets as exciting new ways to tell stories.

WEEK TWO: July 13-17

FAIRY TALE THEATER
6-9 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
In this camp, young performers will create and perform their own versions of favorite fairy tales. Using their imagination, they will develop creative ideas and work together to bring these stories to life on stage.

POP MUSICALS!
10-12 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
A returning favorite! Work on your “triple threat” skills—acting, singing and dancing—in this fun musical theater camp focused on contemporary pop musicals like Legally Blonde and Wicked. Participants will work on songs of their choosing as well as group numbers.

ROCK THE AUDITION
12-16 year olds
1:30-4:30 PM

In this camp for the advanced theater student, campers will develop the skills necessary to succeed in their auditions. Learn to make a lasting impression and rock that audition using your voice, your song, your acting, and your confidence.

WEEK THREE: July 20-24

SING, SING, SING!
6-9 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

This camp will teach young singers the basics of singing for musicals. With an introduction to proper singing technique and vocal projection, students will gain confidence in their abilities as they raise their voice in song.

BROADWAY DANCE III
12-16 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

New for 2015! In this new camp, dancers will learn choreography to classic musical theater songs. With an emphasis on technique and performance, this camp will strengthen campers’ skills as musical theater dancers.

POP MUSICALS!
10-12 year olds

WEEK FOUR: July 27 – 31

BROADWAY BABIES
6-9 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

This camp will teach our youngest performers the basics of acting, singing, and dancing in musicals. Campers will learn to perform onstage by working on songs, poems, and dances in the tradition of Broadway shows!

A MIDSUMMER SHAKESPEARE
10-12 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

This camp will give your child an introduction to the wonderful world of William Shakespeare! From sonnets to plays to hilarious insults, campers will explore some of the best writing in the English language and learn to love these classic plays.

 

WEEK Five: August 3-7

STORY TIME
6-9 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Campers in this session will explore how stories from their own lives can become plays. Learning about characters and events, they will create and rehearse original scenes for a final performance on Friday!

ACTING UP
10-12 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM

This camp offers an opportunity for young performers to strengthen their acting skills. Through rehearsing scenes, campers will learn techniques to interact with one another, display emotions, and create dynamic characters.

ADVANCED SHAKESPEARE
12-16 year olds
1:30-4:30 PM

For the young actors familiar with the Shakespeare, this camp will give a deeper understanding of the power of his language. Campers will improve their acting skills and speech technique by studying and rehearsing scenes from some of his greatest plays.

WEEK Six: August 10-14

BROADWAY DANCE I
6-9 year olds

This camp offers an introduction to dancing in Broadway musicals! Starting with learning basic dance technique, campers will learn routines to favorite Broadway songs!

THE WRITE IDEA
10-16 year olds
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
In this returning favorite, young playwrights will learn the fundamentals of crafting stories for the stage as they write original plays. This class will culminate in a reading of the students’ plays, with performances by members of the 2014 Barn Company!

CLASS LOCATION & DIRECTIONS

All camps are held at the New London Outing Club’s Indoor Center. If you drive south down Main Street, passing the Barn Playhouse on your right, you need to go to the main stop light in town (Pleasant Street, at the Library and Lake Sunapee Bank), and turn left. After two buildings, turn left again onto Cougar Court. Pass the Elementary School on your right, and the second building houses the Outing Club. Please go in the main entrance to meet the instructors and Education staff in the lobby. Camps will be held in the gym, the Music Room behind the gym, and the second classroom on the left down the main hallway.

 

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

REGISTRATION NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY 2nd

1) Please click here to fill out this form to register. One form per camper.

2) Enrollment is only guaranteed with mailing in a deposit of $25 per camper per session, which can be paid online HERE*, or mailed to the address below**.

3) Download the release form HERE. This can be brought to the first day of class, dropped off at the Box Office, or mailed to the address below. We will also have copies available on the first day of the session if necessary.

4) The remaining $145 (per camper per session) is due in full by the first day of camp, and may be brought in to the Box Office (after June 1), brought to the first day of camp, paid online after you’ve made your online deposit*, or mailed to**:

*NOTE: If you pay online, you can choose to either pay the $25 deposit, in which case you will get a confirmation email with a link to pay the $145 balance, OR you may pay the full $170 in one payment. Do not pay for both! 

**NOTE: If paying by check, please note the full name of the child and the camp in the “memo” section of the check. If paying for multiple children, please note that as well. Thanks!
